@Arnyn, @Rillewen

Captain Pele Alarion
Headquarters, late morning of December 30
Pele listened carefully to the description of plans for rescuing slaves Ava provided, and it seemed that she had given an plenty of thought to it, and both the zeal and good intentions behind it seemed genuine rather than an elaborate cover story for whatever possible illegal and harmful activities that could be hidden under it. No matter how interested she was in this, she had to agree with Arnyn who brought up the matter of what consequences there could be should Ava return home to Umbar. This was something that had to be decided rather urgently.
She looked from Arnyn and her seemingly dry list of facts and possible consequences to Tercen, seeing his eager defence of Ava. She breathed out a quiet sigh, as she looked back to the Umbarian. It would not help if she jumped to conclusions without addressing all concerns properly.
"Look, Tercen," she eventually decided to address Arnyn's brother first. "It is not even necessarily about Ava having done something wrong, for I would like to believe that she has not, or at least I am not aware of any such thing presently. Rather this should be seen as a matter of safety. A matter of life or death, if you will."
She then turned back to Ava, and spoke to her with calm gentleness in her voice: "My Lieutenant is right. You have suspicions of possible plans we might have regarding Umbar from whatever bits and pieces you have picked up, and that knowledge is indeed dangerous. Just like your own efforts and plans of saving people from slavery." Pele sighed once again, more deeply, before she continued: "You have seen the cruelty of your leaders yourself, and if the spies reported on you... Would you be able to withstand the torture you might be put through if the priest or his sons decided to come after you? And not say a single word? Trust me, it is an experience I would suggest you to avoid. Or they might kill you. If your offer of alliance and help is indeed earnest, I'd rather you remain alive and in one piece to carry out your intention. And Umbar might need you if there ever will be changes - it would take people like you to bring those about, to inspire, to show a different path. And the second point, as Lieutenant said, a point which concerns me greatly, is a chance that you might not be able to stand up to any horror they throw at you and unwillingly give up what little information you know about us. And no, you don't have to be a traitor to do that - things might escape under pressure and duress far exceeding the strength to resist, unless you are made of steel and rock. So... I would prefer to live, since I was given that chance, and I would like my Rangers to live - plans or no plans in works. And I would also prefer you to live."
"See?" Pele concluded her monologue and looked deeply into Ava's eyes for a good long moment, and then looked at all others present in turn. "This is indeed a matter of complexity, and it requires a feasible solution."
