Hello all, just me popping around for our favourite semiannual rigmarole: An Election !

I'm going to stick with what we tried last time out, as that seemed to go okay and I didn't get any particularly enraged feedback about it. That is:

1) We'll start off with a little

Registration/Nomination Form

which will be used to indicate 1) the fact that you'd like to receive an anonymous ballot link come voting time; 2) your own willingness/notsowillingthanksanywayness to take on an admin role for July-December, and optionally 3) any names of folks you'd like to see on the ballot.

2) Then in a week or so I'll sort the ballot out and set up another one of those anonymous ranked-choice vote deals from that weird government looking website from last time, with some tweaks to hopefully alleviate some of the confusions from last time around;

3) At the end, the top 3 vote-getters will become the admin team for July-December. I'll announce the winners and make the more detailed results available to the nominees if they wish (just to reiterate, this won't include any info about who voted for whom, just the final tallies).


That renders the ol election email at lotrplazaelection [at] gmail [dot] com a bit redundant this time around, but I will still be checking it in case anyone has any questions or concerns they would like to raise privately. Otherwise, please ask / concern away in here at your leisure and please give that form a whirl when you have a moment. Thanks everyone who has sent in the form thus far -- I'll keep nominations open til end of tomorrow, and then we'll move on to stage 2.

I sent two forms because 1) it is early, and my brain isn't awake yet, 2) My toast slipped from my fingers, and 3) like my toast, my alternative email slipped from my memory.
If they follow in sequence, the second form I sent will be the correct one. Thanks, Narv!

Thanks everyone who sent in a (or so) nomination form(s)! We have a few nominees with whom I'll need to confirm the 'do-you-wanna-be-on-the-ballot' question the old fashioned way, so I'm doing that process now and then hopefully we'll have a confirmed ballot ready to go for next week.

(also just a note that you can still use that form to let me know you'd like to receive a ballot, and if there are any late nominations anyone's hankering to put in I'm sure I can accommodate those too)

Thanks for the patience all - some nominees are still mulling it over and I have been loath to enforce hastiness. In the meantime, I have switched kingdoms as a form of penance.

don't want to clog up the Poll is Open thread with everyone's blurbs, but just wanted to say
1) thank you to the current admin team for stepping in and doing a wonderful job! you are all splendid stars
2) I really like the new nomination form and polling method. it seems more efficient and simple (probably easier for the poll-taker too!). well done @Narv (and any other people who may have been involved in suggesting it)
3) regardless of who wins this round, thank you very much to all those who stepped forward and were willing to become admins and the prospect of spending time dealing with reported posts, mediating where needed, enforcing rules/DEI/CoC, plus all the more fun stuff!
